Thomas Paul Harmon, 63, of rural Farmington, passed away at 5:11 P.M. Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Emergency Room of the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
Born August 9, 1951 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of J. Veach and Ruth E. (Specht) Harmon. He married Wanda Ott in Farmington, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife Wanda; two sons Jason (Melissa) Harmon of Tipton, Iowa and Charlie (Andrea) Harmon of West Milton, Pennsylvania; one daughter Joni (Travis) Tyrrell of North Liberty, Iowa; two grandsons Sawyer and Kingston; also surviving is one aunt Elizabeth Specht; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Richard Harmon.
Tom graduated from Revere High School in Revere, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Tom was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post #231, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his lawn, and woodworking. He was very involved in the Farmington American Legion currently serving as Commander. Tom was very helpful in fundraising for local causes.
The Family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Rob Radosevich officiating. Following the service his body will be cremated. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Anson Cemetery in Anson, Missouri with full military rites by the Farmington American Legion Post #231.
A memorial has been established for Boys State through the Farmington American Legion.
