 Burlington High School will wrestle at Mt. Pleasant High School tonight in non-conference action. The Grayhounds are 9-7 in dual meet action and the Panthers are 6-12. Weights that should have some key matches that will determine the outcome will be at 126 and 145 pounds.

OTHER WRESTLING TONIGHT: West Burlington-Notre Dame/Danville and Columbus Community/WMU at Highland, Cardinal and Wapello at L&M, Mediapolis and Lone Tree at Pekin, New London and Waco at Van Buren.


The Mt. Pleasant Middle School wrestling team wrestled at Ft. Madison Tuesday against Keokuk, Washington and the Bloodhounds. Panthers winning matches: Brayden Ackles, Tyler Raub, Dalton Rose, Blake Davis, Kalib Wilson, Nate Wallace, Jaden Davis, Corbin Broecker, Tabian Waddle, James DeMeyer, Lucas Lee, and David Amos.                


Southeastern Community College men’s basketball team last night beat Marshalltown 78-70. Former Danville Bears Steven and Michael Soukup each had 19 points.

The Southeastern women’s team defeated Iowa Central 75-70.

Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids lost to #4 ranked Des Moines Area Community College by 1 pt in overtime last night 88-87. Former Mt. Pleasant Panther Jordan Ashton led all scorers with 29pts.


Iowa Wesleyan will host Tiger Spirit Night on Thursday, January 29 in Ruble Arena.  The community is invited to come out to see the redesigned gym floor when the men’s and women’s basketball teams take on Spalding University.  The women’s game will tip off at 6:00 p.m. with the men’s game following at 8:00 p.m.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Admission to the game is free with a canned food donation which will benefit the Mount Pleasant Fellowship Cup.  Be one of the first 100 people in the door to receive a free Tiger Rally Towel.

Other activities for Tiger Spirit Night include the National Anthem performed by the combined Mount Pleasant Elementary School Chorus, free autograph sessions with the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and a photo booth with Wesley the Tiger.  A special tribute to the late Kenneth Miller, class of 1960, who funded the gym floor renovation through a gift to athletics.

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the results of the 2015 baseball preseaon poll. Iowa Wesleyan was slated to finish in ninth place overall and fifth in the West Division.

The Tigers received 15 total points in the preseason poll. Iowa Wesleyan is looking to improve on last season with the help of seven returning starters.
