Drake Relays:

(KILJ) — Maggie Cristoforo a junior on the MPHS girls team finished 8th in the 400 meter hurdles at Drake, she ran a time of 1:06.28. The winning time was 1:03.21 by Janette Schraft of Glenwood, an Iowa State recruit.

MPHS BOYS’ 4X100 TEAM RAN IN THE 6TH HEAT OF THE PRELIMS….RAN 44.00 WITH KHANG TRUONG, CHASE LAMM, RYLAN SEBERG AND ZACH BEASON…FINISHED 1ST IN THEIR HEAT FINISHED 12TH OVER ALL AND HAD THE FASTEST 3A SCHOOL TIME

The MPHS girls’ 4×100 team raced in heat 11 in the prelims, running a time of 53.20 finishing 5th in the heat with Maddie Williamson, Karsyn Lamm, Lyndi VanTiger and Avery Sutter, the Panthers finished 83rd overall in the 96 team field.

MPHS BOYS SHUTTLE HURDLE TEAM RAN 3RD IN THEIR HEAT AT 1:01.91, Zach Beason, Tate Shull, Konnor Peterson and Chase Lamm were the runners.  MPHS was 12th fastest of the 16 teams entered.

Girls’ Golf:

(KILJ) — Wrapping up things up from last Friday, the Mount Pleasant Panther girls’ golf team won their home invite, defeating Ottumwa, Iowa City Liberty, Muscatine, Clear Creek Amana, and West Burlington Notre Dame. Anni and Elli Liechty both medaled. Anni was the meet runner-up with an 88. Elli was 4th with a 95. The Panthers will not be participating in today’s 12-team invite in Burlington, due to to rainy conditions.

Middle School Track:

(KILJ) — The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade girls track team travelled to Keokuk Friday, April 26, 2019.  Team scores were unreported.

Iowa Wesleyan Softball:

(KILJ) — The Iowa Wesleyan softball became the first university women’s team to compete in NCAA Division III post-season play by earning the #2 seed in the SLIAC conference tournament yesterday, by sweeping Blackburn College at home.

The Tigers posted two, dramatic, come-from-behind victories at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex, earning a 4-3 win in 8 innings in game one, and a 3-2 win in game two.

Morgan Christner was the winning pitcher in the circle in both games. Coach Mike Hampton also secured his 1,300th win in the process on Sunday. KILJ wants to congratulate Coach Hampton on this historic season and his personal milestone.

Iowa Wesleyan closes out the season with an overall record of 26-9 and 13-5 in the SLIAC.

Iowa Wesleyan Baseball:

(KILJ) — The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team closed out their 2019 season with a pair of losses in Pella yesterday versus American River Conference foe Central College.

In game one, the Tigers had a 3-2 heading into the final frame, only to see the Dutch rally for two runs to walk off Wesleyan 4-3. Antoine Miller had two RBI’s in game one.

In game two, four Central pitchers combined to allow just three hits, as the Dutch cruised to a 6-0 victory. Chazz Brown, Jacob Leonard and Michael Rojas had the hits for Wesleyan. Clayton Lathen took the hard-luck loss for the Tigers on the hill, working 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs, while striking out three. The Tigers closed their season with an overall record of 8-30-1.
