Girls Tennis:

(KILJ) — The Mount Pleasant Panther girls tennis team jumped out to an early lead and did not look back en route to a 7-2 victory over West Burlington Notre Dame last night in Mount Pleasant. Singles results are as follows:

With the victory, the Panthers improved to 3-3 on the season.

Boy’s Tennis:

(KILJ) — In boy’s tennis, Mount Pleasant earned singles victories from Jaxon Hoyle, Donny Arledge, David Nguyen, Jack Schimmelpfennig, Clayton Henriksen as they dispatched West Burlington/Notre Dame 8-1 last night in Eastlake Park. In Doubles, Mount Pleasant’s Corbin Broker and Jaxon Hoyle earned a victory, as did Arledge/Schimmelpfennig and Nguyen/Henriksen. With the victory, the Panthers improved to 6-1 on the season. They’ll be back on the court Thursday, taking on Fairfield at East Lake Park.

Boy’s Golf:

(KILJ) — Mount Pleasant boy’s golf finished in 3rd last night in the Oskaloosa Invite at Edmundson Golf Course. Senior Trace White finished as the meet runner-up falling only to Pella’s Will Simpson. Jake Moffett and Bailey Shellady each had top-20 performances, finishing 16th and 17th respectively. Nevada won the event with a team score of 298, while Pella placed 2nd. Mount Pleasant finished just 13 strokes off of first place with a team score of 311.

Boy’s Track:

(KILJ) — The Mount Pleasant boy’s track team placed first last night earning the team title in Keokuk. The team of Beason, Shull, Lamm and Peterson placed first in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay with a time of 63.38.  Khang Truong took home first place in the 100m dash, while Rylan Seberg placed 2nd. The Distance Med group of Mai, Williamson, Church, and Sturkerjurgen ran 3:51.48 to earn first place honors, as well.

Disc: Beason — 157-9.5 (#2 in 3A)

Team scores: MP — 180, Fort Madison — 94, Keokuk — 74

Girl’s Track:

(KILJ) —  The Mount Pleasant Panther girls track team also earned a first place victory in the Keosippi Relays in Keokuk last night amassing 200 team points, pulling away for the title.

Drake Relays:

(KILJ) — The Mt. Pleasant Panther girls and boys track teams are sending a number of athletes to the 2019 Drake Relays in Des Moines Thursday thru Saturday.  The 1st Panther events happen Thursday with Sam Beatty in the high jump at 4:30 p.m.  Abby Ryon will run in the 3000 meter race at 5:40 p.m.

Friday will be a busy day, Chase Lamm will run the 110 high hurdles at 8:15, Lexie Magnani throws the shot at 8:30, Zach Beason throws the discus at 9 am.  Khang Truong long jumps at 9:30 Friday, Rylan Seberg will long jump in the 2nd flight at 9:45 am, the boy’s distance medley runs at 10:02 to wrap up the events involving Panthers.  Saturday at 8:15 the MPHS boys shuttle hurdle team runs, at 9:28 the Panther girls 4×100 relay hits the Blue Oval, the Panther boys 4×100 runs at 10:03.  Maggie Cristoforo is the final Panther to perform at 1:11 Saturday afternoon in the 400 hurdles.  KILJ-FM 105.5 will have updates on the action from Drake as well as posts on our website and Facebook and twitter pages.

Iowa Wesleyan Baseball:

(KILJ) — The Iowa Wesleyan baseball dropped two games yesterday in a doubleheader with the Monmouth Scots at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. A 6-run 4th inning propelled Monmouth to a 13-5 game one win. Clayton Lathen was the losing pitcher in game one. Chazz Brown provided the offensive fireworks for the Tigers in the loss, bagging his 3rd home run on the season. In Game Two, a late flurry by the Scots in 9th, proved too costly as they pulled away for a 13-3 win. Joe Morrison was saddled the loss for the Tigers. Dominic Gerace had a double for the Tigers, while Nick Salas hit a round-tripper. Iowa Wesleyan is now 8-26-1 on the year.

Iowa Wesleyan Men’s Golf:

(KILJ) — Iowa Wesleyan men’s golf finished 5th at the SLIAC Men’s Golf tournament with a score of 1018. Jaime Suarez finished tied for 15th with a 248.

Boys soccer hosting Fairfield at 4:30pm, JV at 6pm

Girls and boys track will compete in a meet at Pella 4:45pm

Friday: Girls golf will host an invitational at the Mt Pleasant Golf & Country Club at 1pm, teams competing include Clear Creek-Amana, Grinnell, Iowa City Liberty, Muscatine, Notre Dame, and Ottumwa

Drake Relays in Des Moines

Girls tennis will host Fort Madison at 4:30pm

Boys tennis will play at Fort Madison at 4:30pm

Middle school girls track will compete in a meet at Keokuk at 4:30pm

Saturday: Boys golf will play in an invitational at Fairfield Golf & Country Club at 8am
