#11 (2A) Mount Pleasant girls soccer traveled to a Washington for a Varsity/JV double header. Varsity played first, it was a game full of opportunities and physical challenges for the Panthers, who couldn’t capitalize during regulation. The score was 0-0 heading into the first overtime period, with Mount Pleasant goalie Ayden Ross having made 3 saves, compared to Washington’s goalie making 11. In 1 minute and 4 seconds into the first OT, Mary West took a free kick which was partially saved by the keeper and tapped in by Sydney Doak, scoring the golden goal for the Panthers to win 1-0. Mount Pleasant is now 6-1 (4-0 in conference), they travel to Fairfield on Thursday.

Mt Pleasant boys soccer hosted Washington at East Lake Park. Panthers dominated their way to a 7-0 win over the Demons. Nathan Rauenbuehler and Noel Lopez both scored two goals in the game. Jadyn Vongsavath, Tyler Craig, and Cade Warner each scored goals as well. Mt Pleasant improves to 8-2 on the season.

Mt Pleasant girls golf competed over in Fairfield yesterday. #4 Washington won the match with a team score of 184, Mt Pleasant was right behind them at 189, and Fairfield didn’t qualify for a team score. Michal Wohlleber led the Panthers with a score of 42, Anni Liechty and Elli Liechty both shot 48, Melody Miller had 51, Grace Scheetz at 54, Alex Gerling shot 54, and Sami Wibben finished at 57.

Mt Pleasant 7th grade girls track participated in a meet over at Fairfield. Mt Pleasant finished 1st in the team standings with 142 points.

1st place finishes: Teyanna Lane in the 100 meter dash at 13.82,the 200 meter dash at 28.80, and the long jump at 14’10”. Josie Gilmore in the 200 meter hurdles at 31.53 and in the high jump at 4’8”. Sprint Medley relay team at 2:15.88 with the team of Ella Gideon, Megan Borders, Emma Starr, and Andi Scott.

2nd place finishes: Baily Jalas in the 200 meter dash at 29.74, Aubrey Claiborne in the 400 meter dash at 1:14.23, Josie Gilmore in 100 meter hurdles at 17.40, and Elsie Lange in the high jump at 4’6”.

3rd place finishes: Baily Jalas in the 100 meter dash at 14.13, Elsie Lange in the 800 meter run at 3:00.21 and in the 1500 meter run at 6:06.31, and the 200 meter relay team at 2:10.27 with the team of Emma Starr, Ella Gideon, Megan Borders, and Rellanna Van Deuren.

The Mt. Pleasant 7th grade boys track team won the Fort Madison Relays on Monday, April 22nd. The team has now won all three of their track meets this season. The athletes are working hard despite the small numbers on the team!

Mason Sloat had a strong performance winning the 100, 200, and 400.

Iowa Wesleyan men’s golf competed in day one of the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament taking place in Peoria Illinois. Tigers finished the day in 4th place with a team score of 670, Webster led the pack at 588. Blake Forsythe led Iowa Wesleyan shooting 160 which ties him for 10th place individually. Jeff Cox was the next Tiger at 162, Jaime Suarez shot 167, Cameron Mack had 181, and Austin Willis finished at 216. The tournament will resume play at 10am today.

 

 

The Mt. Pleasant Panther girls and boys track teams are sending a number of athletes to the 2019 Drake Relays in Des Moines Thursday thru Saturday.  The 1st Panther events happen Thursday with Sam Beatty in the high jump at 4:30 p.m.  Abby Ryon will run in the 3000 meter race at 5:40 p.m.

Friday will be a busy day, Chase Lamm will run the 110 high hurdles at 8:15, Lexie Magnani throws the shot at 8:30, Zach Beason throws the discus at 9 am.  Khang Truong long jumps at 9:30 Friday, Rylan Seberg will long jump in the 2nd flight at 9:45 am, the boy’s distance medley runs at 10:02 to wrap up the events involving Panthers.  Saturday at 8:15 the MPHS boys shuttle hurdle team runs, at 9:28 the Panther girls 4×100 relay hits the Blue Oval, the Panther boys 4×100 runs at 10:03.  Maggie Cristoforo is the final Panther to perform at 1:11 Saturday afternoon in the 400 hurdles.  KILJ-FM 105.5 will have updates on the action from Drake as well as posts on our website and Facebook and twitter pages.

Thursday: Boys golf will play in an invitational at the Preserve Golf Course

Friday: Girls golf will host an invitational at the Mt Pleasant Golf & Country Club at 1pm, teams competing include Clear Creek-Amana, Grinnell, Iowa City Liberty, Muscatine, Notre Dame, and Ottumwa

Iowa Wesleyan baseball is back at home today hosting Monmouth College for a double header. Tigers are 8-24-1 overall and the Scots are 18-9 on the season. First game will start at 5pm at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.
