Mt Pleasant girls golf played a varsity triangular with Keokuk and Oskaloosa at the Elks Fairview Golf Club. Panthers had a great outing and won the match with a team score of 191, Oskaloosa shot 227, and Keokuk finished at 247. Anni Liechty was a medalist with a score of 41, Michal Wohlleber was runner up at 47, Elli Liechty shot 48, Melody Miller had 55, Alex Gerling shot 58, and Grace Sheetz was at 60.
#11 ranked Mt Pleasant girls soccer hosted Fort Madison for a Varsity/JV double header at a windy East Lake. Mt Pleasant’s Anna Ostby got the first goal with 31:00 remaining in the first half on a tap in. Sydney Doak scored the 2nd for the Panthers with 21:04 remaining in the first half. Mt Pleasant won 2-0, tallying 19 shots, Ayden Ross made 1 save in the win. #11 Mount Pleasant is now 5-0 and travels to Holy Trinity on Thursday. JV followed the Varsity match. Thanh Phung scored for Mount Pleasant as they completed the sweep of Fort Madison with a 1-0 win in the JV match.
Mt Pleasant girls tennis played down at Keokuk, Panthers returned home with a 7-2 win. In singles Hallie Sandeen defeated Emma Evans 8-2, Breeana Runyon beat Kierra Huddleston 8-2, Sierra Barton won 8-0 over Julia de Gala, Olivia Larson defeated Delaynee Billings 8-1, and Madecyn Anderson beat Williow Carrington 8-0. In doubles Sierra Barton/Olivia Larson defeated Kierra Huddleston/Julia de Gala 8-1, and Breeana Runyon/Madecyn Anderson beat Delaynee Billings/Willow Carrington 8-0. Notable stat from the match is Madecyn Anderson picking up her first ever varsity wins as she was filling in.
Mt Pleasant boys soccer played down at Fort Madison. Bloodhounds were able to defend their home field and defeated the Panthers 2-1. Mt Pleasant is now 5-2 on the season.
Mt Pleasant Middle School 8th grade girls track team travelled to Ottumwa yesterday. They finished fifth.

Iowa Wesleyan baseball was scheduled to play a conference double header tomorrow at MacMurray College but due to expected weather the two teams agreed to move the games up to today. Tigers are 5-22-1 overall and 3-12 in conference games, Highlanders are 6-19 overall and 2-6 in conference games. First game of the double header will start at 1pm this afternoon.
Iowa Wesleyan men’s and women’s golf are hosting the Tiger Classic today at the Sheaffer Golf Course in Fort Madison. Women’s teams will be teeing off around 10:30am and men’s teams will be teeing off around 11am. For the Iowa Wesleyan women’s team this will be the last spring competition and for the men’s team they still have the SLIAC Conference Tournament next week and the Monmouth College Scot Invite after that.
The team assignments for state qualifying track meets have been released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Mt Pleasant will be a hosting site and teams competing will be Davenport Assumption, Centerville, Fairfield, Keokuk, Mt Pleasant, Washington, and West Burlington/Notre Dame. The state qualifying track meets will be held on Thursday, May 9th.
Former Mt Pleasant Panther football standout Leonard Wester has signed a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wester had spent the past three years on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. The terms of his new deal with Jacksonville were not disclosed.
