SATURDAY DRAKE RESULTS AND SPORTS

Maggie Cristoforo a junior on the MPHS girls team finished 8th in the 400 meter hurdles at Drake, she ran a time of 1:06.28. The winning time was 1:03.21 by a senior runner from Glenwood

MPHS BOYS’ 4X100 TEAM RAN IN THE 6TH HEAT OF THE PRELIMS….RAN 44.00 WITH KHANG TRUONG, CHASE LAMM, RYLAN SEBERG AND ZACH BEASON…FINISHED 1ST IN THEIR HEAT, WON’T MAKE FINALS BUT FINISHED 12TH OVER ALL AND HAD THE FASTEST 3A SCHOOL TIME

The MPHS girls’ 4×100 team ran in heat 11 at the Drake Relays, they ran a time of 53.20 finishing 5th in the heat with Maddie Williamson, Karsyn Lamm, Lyndi VanTiger and Avery Sutter, Panthers finished 86th overall in the 96 team field.

MPHS BOYS SHUTTLE HURDLE TEAM RAN 3RD IN THEIR HEAT AT 1:01.91, Ankeny Centennial ran 59.95 to win the heat……Panthers will not make the finals, only top 4 teams go. Zach Beason, Tate Shull, Konnor Peterson and Chase Lamm were the runners.  MPHS was 12th fastest of the 16 teams entered.

Some former area high school athletes competed at Drake Friday.  Mary Wester competed in the javelin competition for South Dakota, she finished 23rd at 116′ 1″, she injured her knee on her second throw.  Cole Phillips running for UNI ran his fastest 110 hurdle time of 14.9 10th overall.  Carson McSorely ran for the Wartburg Knights in the 4×400 relay that finished 10th overall

OTHER AREA SPORTS:

Ft. Madison downed the MPHS boys in tennis Friday in Ft. madison 6-3.  Panther points picked up by Jacik Schimmelpfennig and Clayton Henricksen in singles, David Nguyen and Henricksen won at #3 doubles.

The MPHS girls’ golf team won the invitational they hosted at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club Friday.  Panthers shot a 395 , Ottumwa-399 Iowa City Liberty -419 Musc-463 Clear Creek Amana-473.   MPHS individual scores: Anni Liechty-88 good for runner up medalist, Eli Liechty-95 Alex Gerling-105 Michal Wohlleber-107 Melody Miller-107 Grace Scheetz-115.
