KILJ — The 109th edition of the Drake Relays is underway in our state capitol of Des Moines and several area students are competing at the Blue Oval.

Official results are below:

Girls’ shot put:  Lexie Magnani a Junior for the MPHS Track Team will be bringing home a medal  from the Drake Relays. Her throw of 40’5.5 was the 3rd best throw in the competition held Friday morning.

Boys’ discus:  MPHS senior Zach Beason finished 10th with a throw of 155′ 10″.

Boys’ Long Jump: Rylan Seberg 4th 21′ 8 1/4″ in the Drake Long Jump

Khang Truong of MPHS finished 21st in boys long jump with 18′ 9 3/4″ jump

1600 Medley relay:  MPHS boys ran 3:39.84 to finish 16th Khang Truong, Chase Lamm, Rylan Seberg and Jacob Stukerjurgen

Boys’ 100m Dash: 

Jax Lamm – West Burlington Notre Dame – 10.99 (4th fastest prelims); will qualify for the finals. Cousin to Mount Pleasant’s Chase Lamm.

Jagger Gourley – Mediapolis – 11.03 (7th fastest prelims); will qualify for the finals.

Boys’ 110m High Hurdles: 

(Sr.) Chase Lamm (7th in Heat 2 30th overall) — 15.92; will not qualify for the finals.

Boys’ High Jump: 

O = Successful Jump

X = Unsuccessful Jump 

Sam Beatty (Sr.)

Opening height (6’1″) — O

Second height (6’3″) — O

Third height (6’5″) — X, X, O

Fourth height (6’7″) — X, X, X

Beatty earned a 7th place finish in the event.

Landon Kooiker of Fairfield finished tied for 7th as well, clearing 6’5″ but missing three attempts at 6’7″.

Girls’ 3000m Run: 

Abby Ryon (Jr.)

17th place — 10:33.03

The winner was Iowa City Liberty’s Ashlyn Keeney, who is the grand-daughter of Janie and the late Mark Fitzpatrick of Mount Pleasant.
