Julia A. “Judy” Martin, 79, of Cantril, died at 7:35 A.M. Thursday April 2, 2015, at Bloomfield Care Center where she had resided the past year. She was born February 11, 1936, at Milton to Willard “Boney” and Helen Barr Boyd and married Wilbur D. Martin August 16, 1952, in El Paso, TX. He died December 14, 2001. She farmed with her husband near Cantril. They moved to town in 1972.
Judy was a member of Cantril United Methodist Church, Cantril Grass Roots and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are, a son, Clifford Martin (Rhonda Northup) of Bloomfield, a daughter, Cheryl Martin (Shawn Toth) of Louisville, KY, a step-son Donald Martin (Pam) of Bloomfield, a step-daughter Marlene Hougland (David) of Cedar Rapids, 3 grandchildren: Brad, Michelle and Michael, 2 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, a brother, Charles Boyd (Roberta) of Milton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Erlon “Bud” Dufur of Cantril. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Willard Jr., Russell, Robert, Ted and Ray Boyd.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday April 6, 2015, at Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Visitation will open at 4 P.M. Sunday April 5, 2015, at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the family present 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Memorials to Cantril Grass Roots or the Maple Grove Cemetery may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 305 West Poplar, Bloomfield, IA 52537.
