From the Henry County Supervisors Meeting

The Henry County Board of Supervisors held a brief discussion regarding next steps in making a decision on an ATV/UTV ordinance.  April 18 the board heard from about 50 residents, mostly in favor of an ordinance.  Tuesday the board decided another public meeting probably wasn’t necessary. They plan to schedule a meeting with the County Attorney to learn more about the legal side of the issue.  None of the three shared their own opinion on an ordinance.

The supervisors held the third reading and passed an ordinance to rezone property in Mt. Union.  The former city’s community building was purchased by Dean Van Tiger.  He plans to rent out the building for community and private events.  But Mt. Union is now subject to county zoning since un-incorporating. The re-zone is from R-2 Community Residential to C-2 Community Commercial.

Henry County Treasurer Ana Lair attended the supervisors meeting with a request from the City of Mt. Pleasant to waive the interest and court fees on a property in the city limits.  The city is not asking to have the taxes on the property abated. The situation was created by a court action that allowed the city to acquire the property that was determined to be abandoned.
