From the HCHC Trustees Meeting

The Henry County Health Center Board of Trustees met Tuesday in regular session.  Following two public hearings, the trustees awarded contracts for two different projects.  Only one company bid on the replacement of the air handler for heating and cooling.  The bid was $340,000 and board voted to go ahead and award the contract to Frank Millard and Company.  CEO Robb Gardner hopes they will be able to value engineer the project to bring down the cost since the bid came in over the engineer’s estimate.  The other project is the next phase of parking lot improvements.  The engineer said five good bids came in for this one.  The estimate was $212,000.  Jones Contracting received the contract with the low bid of $162,507.  The board went ahead and passed a change order to add additional work not to exceed the engineer’s estimate, hoping to accomplish more paving at current lower concrete prices.

The hospital trustees also discussed using USDA loans for $360,000 from each of two rural cooperatives for radiology and emergency equipment.  These are interest free for 10 years and are available thru Access Energy Cooperative and Northeast Missouri Electric Cooperative.  There will be a public hearing regarding this during the May 21 board meeting.
