Education, Workforce Development focus of second lawmaker forum
Written by Theresa Rose on February 19, 2015MOUNT PLEASANT—The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Government Affairs Committee invites the public to a forum with area lawmakers Saturday, February 28, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the International Room of Chadwick Library at Iowa Wesleyan College.
The forum topic is “Education and Workforce Development.” Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mount Pleasant, and Sen. Thomas Courtney, D-Burlington, are both scheduled to attend. Joining them in discussion will be Mr. John Henriksen, Superintendent of Central Lee Community School District and Dr. Mike Wells, Superintendent of Mount Pleasant Community School District, who both have broad knowledge of education systems. J.D. Schimmelpfennig, founder of Lomont Molding, Inc., will be sitting on the panel as a representative of workforce needs, bringing over 30 years of experience in the plastics business. Teri Bockting, Director of Human Resources of Cambridge Investment Research, Inc., will moderate.
Chamber Alliance Legislative Forums are the fourth Saturday of the month during the legislative session in the International Room of Chadwick Library on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus. The remaining 2015 schedule (topics subject to change) is as follows:
