Clarence E. Wixom Jr.

Clarence E. Wixom Jr., 89, of Bonaparte died Saturday March 21, 2015 at 5:05 PM at home under hospice care. He was born January 1, 1926 in Farmington to Clarence E. and Myrtle Fixsal Wixom and married A. Rosalene Axtell on April 4, 1947 in Keosauqua.

Clarence grew up and worked on the family farm in Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 1944. Clarence entered into the United States Army on July 7, 1944 as a field Lineman. He fought in several major battles in WWII and was in several European countries with the 26th Infantry Company where he served as a Corporal. After his military service was completed he moved to Bonaparte and worked in a wax paper factory and as a truck driver, was a Forman at Corry’s Machine and Tool in Bonaparte, ran his own television repair business and was known as a jack of all trades. Clarence enjoyed woodworking and attending flea markets, but most of all he loved his grandchildren and was an honorary grandpa to many others.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Ronald Wixom (Ann) of Bonaparte, Wayne Wixom (Peggy) of Ottumwa and William Wixom (Amanda) of Carmel, IN, four daughters, Darlea Westercamp (Rex) of Mt. Sterling, Marita Diephuis (Roger) of Keosauqua, Diane Bell of Bonaparte and Bonnie Nelson (Curtis) of Bonaparte, a sister Virginia Gray of Farmington, a half-brother, Allen Anthony (Paula) of Farmington, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Wixom and a sister, Shirley Turner.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Mark Caston officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7. Burial be in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington with military rites by Sargeant- Osweiler Post 563, American Legion, Bonaparte. Memorials to the Red Cross may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 36, Bonaparte, IA 52620
