Young String Players on IWU Campus

Today, Monday, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra hosts the Ruth Keraus Youth String Festival for 150 young string players from all around Southeast Iowa on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan University. Guest conductors/clinicians are: Don Gentzsch, 5th grade; Gae Ellyn Gentzsch, 6th grade; Betty Miller, 7th & 8th grades; and, Robert McConnell, SEISO Music Director and Conductor, high school.

The day will culminate with a concert at 3:30 in the Chapel Auditorium on the IWU campus. The event recognizes Ruth Keraus, who conducted the orchestra and served on the board of directors for over 25 years and is sponsored in part through a grant from the Iowa Arts Council.
