William Robert Maxwell, 76, of Bonaparte went home to be with Jesus at 1:15 P.M. Tuesday June16, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Ottumwa. Bill entered this world on February 4, 1939 in Burlington, eldest son of Cloyce V. and Nina M. Oge Maxwell in Burlington. He lived in Mt. Pleasant and attended school there until 12 years old at which time the family moved to Burlington. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1958 and married Sandra M. Taeger on August 21, 1959.
Bill served his country for six years in the National Guard and the Air Force. At the age of 12 Bill began his relationship with Jesus and has been a member of the family of God ever since. He was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church and Sargeant-Osweiler Post No. 563, American Legion, Bonaparte.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra, four children Crystal Mundt (Jeffery) of Prairie Du Chien, WI, Billie Maxwell of Lone Pack, WI, Todd Maxwell of Burlington and Dean Maxwell (Dora) of Burlington, seven grandchildren, Brett, Joel and Cody Schulte, Katlin Nolden and Wyatt Mundt, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Gene Maxwell(Linda) and Richard Maxwell, two sisters, Judy Moyer (Rick) and Karen Ash, several nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday June 22, 2015 at Bonaparte Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Caston officiating. Visitation with family present will be 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the service at the church. Military Honors by Sargeant-Osweiler Post, American Legion, Bonaparte. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials to Bonaparte Baptist Church or Sargeant-Osweiler Legion Post may be left the church or mailed to the family at 411 4th Street, Apt 17, Bonaparte, IA 52620. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
