Whoopee Days Contests for Cute Kids, Best Darn Cooks & Pedal Pull

Come to Whoopee Days in Brighton on Saturday, June 18, and be part of some exciting and entertaining contests.  After the parade bring the kids and enter the “Little Darling” Cute Kids contest.  This event will begin at 11:15 p.m. on the stage in the city park.  Age groups will be 1–2 years old, 3–4 years old, 5–6 years old, 7–8 years old.  Judging will be on appearance and personality.  Props may be used.  Ages 3 and up will be asked some simple questions.  Entry forms will be filled out prior to the contest.

 

Calling all cooks for your chance to win bragging rights.  The “Best Darn Cook Contest” will be held at 3:00 pm in the Brighton Community Center following the Brighton Bear Reunion.  Categories include: pies, cookies, and cupcakes.  Entries must be made from scratch and will be judged on taste and appearance.  Contestants may have one entry in each category and is open to anyone.  A copy of the recipe must accompany each entry.

 

Hawkeye Pedal Tractor Pull is a new event this year for 4 – 11 year olds.  Registration begins at 3:00 on the basketball court with the pull starting at 3:30.  Winners will advance to the state pull in Marshalltown in September.  Trophies and ribbons will be awarded.

 

The traditional Whoopee Pie Eating Contest will be held at 5:30 pm on the stage in the city park.  Commodity groups will compete as well as fire departments and more.  There will be an open class.  Come and try to break the record held by Michael Pringle.  Medals will be awarded.
