“We Do Windows”—A Celebration of Arts for the Union Block

Written by Theresa Rose on July 26, 2016

Lisa Oetken, Director of Main Street Mount Pleasant, announced that donated artistic pieces for the “We Do Windows—A celebration of arts for the Union Block”, will be on display this Friday and Saturday, followed by an auction on Sunday.  Items can be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The auction will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Bid forms will be on site from Friday at 5:00 p.m. through the Saturday afternoon viewing times.  Bid sheets will be positioned by each item on Sunday afternoon.

The Union Block’s trefoil windows so prominently featured in the building’s architecture are what inspired the “windows” theme.  Over 100 artists from all corners of Henry County have been invited to submit their visual, textile or culinary interpretation of a window.

Funds from the July 31 auction will be used to purchase and install museum quality, full view storm windows for the trefoil windows.  The storm windows will help to preserve the restored trefoil windows and maintain temperature control in the building.
