Washington Declares Snow EmergencyWritten by Theresa Rose on January 30, 2015
Due to the impending storm expected this weekend the City of Washington is issuing a snow emergency effective at noon on Saturday January 31st until noon on Tuesday February 3rd. Forecasts predict up to seven inches of snow possible over the next four days in our area. The city will tow vehicles left on the street so arrangements should be made immediately for off street parking.
Persons should not park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley or city-owned or leased off-street parking area during any snow emergency proclaimed by the City of Washington unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall. During severe winter weather citizens are also urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Travel only in an emergency and take a winter survival kit. An additional release will be issued when the snow emergency has been lifted.
