Wallace E. “Wally” Ray 79, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Trey Hegar officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the service. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club for the Children’s Christmas Fund.

Wally was born on October 27, 1936, in Boone County the son of Everett & Pearl Quinn Ray. After graduation from Ogden High School he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Washington D.C. He was united in marriage to Beverly A. Leek on June 6, 1956 in Ogden, Iowa. He owned and operated the Econo Mix Feed and Grain in Wilton until they moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1993. Prior to owning his own business he was the manager of the Feed and Grain Dealers Association at Mecker’s Landing and at Muscatine for many years. Wally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club, Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #8, the Wilton Masonic Lodge and the ROMO’S.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of Mt. Pleasant, and his children; Linda (Neil) Bolstad of West Des. Moines, Steve Ray of Grimes, Michael Ray of Keystone and Tim (Tami) Ray of Wilton; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two brothers Darwin (Joann) Ray of Boone and Leo (Gerri) Ray of Ogden.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents.
