Winfield’s Selah is a vocal women’s sextet that originated in 1982 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winfield. Though some individual members have changed over the years, the group’s focus is the same: to praise the Lord—through music and scripture, sometimes giving personal testimonials. The various definitions of “Selah” hold true for this group: a margin note in the Psalms, an undefined musical term, lift up in praise, pause and reflect, unity/unison, meditate.
Winfield’s Selah chooses musical selections from contemporary artists as well as singing variations of traditional hymns. Current members of the group, who represent surrounding communities/churches, are Mandi Mullin, Debbie Lowe, Barb Phelps, Linda Haight, Kim Davis, Sara Schurr, and Accompanist Mary Kilpatrick.
