On October 16, 2016, at approximately 3:37PM, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and Racine Avenue south of New London.
After an investigation, it was found that Carl Harold Loyd of New London, Iowa, was driving a red 2005, Ford F-250. Carl was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 34. He made a left turn onto Racine Avenue. Carl failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of a black 2005, Dodge Ram 3500, which was being driven by Thomas George Reeter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Carl sustained minor injuries and was cited for failure to yield upon entering through a highway.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, New London Fire and Rescue, and Henry County Health Center ambulance.
