Students selected to participate in SEIBA Honor BandWritten by Theresa Rose on January 12, 2015
On Saturday, January 10th the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association held auditions for the SEIBA Honor Band at Fairfield High School. Auditions are open to any students in grades 7-12. Students from all schools are grouped together regardless of class size and are required to perform several scales from memory, as well as two songs and a solo for a judge.
Mt. Pleasant is proud to have had 9 students selected to participate this year, 5 from the high school, and 4 from the middle school. On trombone: Collin Katsion and Bethany Brooks, on tenor saxophone Trever Linkin, and on trumpet Ben Zihlman. All were selected to the SEIBA Senior High Concert Band.
Senior Levi Boston-Kemple was 1 of 5 trumpets selected to the SEIBA Honor Jazz Band.
The 4 middle school students selected the SEIBA junior high honor band were Elizabeth Litchfield on clarinet, Callie DePriest and Emme Kraus on Alto Saxophone, and Erin Zihlman on Flute.
The honor band is held on Saturday, January 24 at Iowa City West High School with a concert beginning at 5:00pm. Congratulations to all the students selected!
