MPHS girl’s track team won the team championship the Falcon Relays held at West Burlington High School.  The Panthers put up 163 points, West Burlington-Notre Dame was 2nd with 129 points.  MPHS 1st place finishers:  Bailey Johnson in the shot put 35’ 1 “, Abbie Liechty in the discus 107’ 11” and Bailey Johnson was 2nd.  D’Jannay Patterson won the 100 meters in 13 seconds flat, Peyton Coffin won the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.85, Allison Buckert won the 100 meter hurdles in 16.43.  The Panther 4×100 relay was 1st in 52.59 with Katie Ensminger, D’Jannay Patterson, Willie Mae Brooks and Peyton Coffin, those same 4 runners won the 4×200 relay in 1:53.58.  The M.P. sprint Medley relay won in a time of 2:04.14 with Dani Broecker, Brianna Shelman, Kirsten Smith and Katie Ensminger.  Pekin won the Class “B” division with 192 points, Mediapolis was 2nd with 124, Danville was 3rd and New London 4th, Winfield Mt. Union finished 5th.

Mt Pleasant  High School girl’s tennis team beat Ft. Madison 7-2 Tuesday.

Panthers winning in Singles:  #3  Meagan Sutherland,  #4  Kylie Sourwine  #5  Thuan Tran, #6  Quin Whaley,  in JV action  Aimmee Keomanivong of M.P. won her match.

MPHS Doubles Winners:  #1 Aline Thiengmany & Afton Engberg,  #2  Meagan Sutherland & Kylie Sourwine, #3  Thuan Tran & Quin Whaley.

MPHS boy’s tennis team fell to Ft. Madison 7-2.  Austin Meyer of M.P. won in #1 singles action, and Ethan Weber won in #3 singles play for the Panthers only wins.

The Iowa Wesleyan softball team hosted Grinnell College yesterday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. The Tigers dropped the first game 5-3 in extra innings, but bounced back to win the second game 8-1. Iowa Wesleyan now has an overall record of 6-10.  Iowa Wesleyan will be back in action on Saturday, they will host Principia College for a conference double-header starting at 1:00 pm. The Tigers are now 6-10 overall and 2-0 in SLIAC play this season.

The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team opened conference play on the road this afternoon. They traveled to Eureka College for a double-header and picked up two wins to kick off the 2016 SLIAC season. The Tiger bats exploded for 23 hits to win 24-2 in the first game of the day, and followed with a 9-2 win in the second game of the day. Iowa Wesleyan will be back in action today. They will travel to Cornell College for a single game starting at 5:00 pm. They also have a JV game scheduled to start at 7:00 pm following the first game. The Tigers are now 6-7 on the season and are 2-0 in SLIAC play.
