IOWA WESLEYAN softball team swept a home double header against FONTBONNE 4-0 and 10-2: Morgan Christner fired a three-hit shutout in the first game, Christner walked one and struck out 10 in picking up her ninth win against three losses. Christner, Allison Daum and McKenzie Copher each went 2-for-3 for the Tigers. Copher had two RBIs. In the second game, Emma McDanel (6-3) picked up the win in the circle, also on a three-hitter. She walked two and struck out one in five innings. McDanel led the IWU hitters, going 2-for-2. Iowa Wesleyan (15-6, 6-2 SLIAC) plays a conference doubleheader against Webster University Wednesday at St. Louis.
WESTMINSTER swept IOWA WESLEYAN 8-2 and 15-0 in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Iowa Wesleyan at Mount Pleasant. Dominic Gerace and Jack De Burgh both went 2-for-3 for Iowa Wesleyan in the first game. In the second game, two Westminster pitchers limited Iowa Wesleyan to two hits, singles by Jacob Leonard and Parker Leland. Iowa Wesleyan (4-18-1) hosts Blackburn in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
In Final Four men’s college basketball, Texas Tech moved to one win away from the title Saturday night with a 61-51 victory over the Michigan State Spartans. Virginia won the other semi-final over Auburn 63-62. Those winners meet Monday night in the championship game in Minneapolis.
The women’s college basketball national championship game is tonight with Baylor tangling with Notre Dame.
