Mt. Pleasant won their football game at Mediapolis Friday night 32-14 over the Class 2A Bulldogs.  Pat Canby rushed for 187 yards and scored 5 touchdowns and the Panther defense grabbed 4 interceptions to put the stops on the Bulldog’s offensive effort.  Mt. Pleasant is now 1-1 in non-district play and ready to open up the district action at home next Friday night against highly ranked Washington who won Friday over Mid Prairie 49-14.

Mediapolis did win the fresh-soph game 24-0.

TODAY:  Mt. Pleasant hosts a freshman volleyball tournament.  The girls and boys cross country teams will run at Pella’s Invitational, the 8th ranked Panther boys run against 6th ranked Gilbert and 7th ranked Pella.  Iowa Wesleyan opens their football season hosting Cornell College of Mt. Vernon kickoff is at 7 p.m. KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the game live.  KILJ-FM will carry the Miami of Ohio game at Iowa beginning at 12:30 p.m. and KILJ-AM 1130 will bring you the UNI at Iowa State game beginning at 5 p.m.

Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club men’s club championship semi final matches will be played Sunday morning at 11 a.m. instead of today at 1 p.m.  Jim Becker vs Kiley Miller and Mike Wilson plays Troy Stith.  The finals will be played Monday.

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s soccer team opened the season on the road with a 2-0 win over Crown College.

The Tigers scoring came in the second half.  Maxwell Trautmann put IW on the board at the 50:45 minute mark.   Iowa Wesleyan’s final goal came when Juan Carlos Franco scored.

Mitchell Schneider recorded five saves in 90 minutes of action in the net for Iowa Wesleyan.

Iowa Wesleyan will return to action tomorrow at 2:30 pm. They will finish up their games in the Warrior Cup against Martin Luther College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
