The #4 ranked MPHS boy’s cross country team led by #2 ranked Logan Murray, ran away with the class “AA” team title at the Mt. Pleasant Invitational Cross country meet they hosted yesterday.  Panthers put up a score of 20 to win, Ft. Madison was 2nd with 42.  Murray ran a winning time of 17:07, Adam Bodenham was 2nd, Cody Mertens 4th, Ryan Hutchison 6th and Kyle Vanderham 8th, Jonathan Ita 11th.  Wapello won the “A” boys class with a 25 score.  Josh Keller of Columbus Community won the individual title in a time of 17:25, Jonathan Quinn of WMU was 2nd.  Danville-New London finished 3rd in the team score and .  The Class “AA” girl’s title was won by #2 ranked Ft. Madison-Holy Trinity Catholic with a 36 score ahead of 15th ranked Fairfield who had a 44 score. Brett Schneider of the Bloodhounds was 1st in 19:55.  MPHS was 4th with 95 points, Taylor Murphy was 6th   21:16, Delaney McDowell ran 17th, Kelsey Notestein  was 21st, Megan Shumaker 25th, Catherin Prough 27th, Emma Smith 28th and Ally Davis 29th.  Mediapolis won the “A” class with a 25 score, the Bullettes Emma Gordon won the individual title in 22:01

 

The Mt. Pleasant Middle School boys and girls cross country teams placed first in the large class of the Mt. Pleasant Cross Country meet.  The girls were led by Abby Ryon, who won the girls race in a time of 13:02, followed by Kendall Dascher, Abby Jalas, Liz Perry, and Claire Holtkamp to round out the top five.  The boys were led by Nick Mc Cormick with a 4th place finish in a time of 13:05.  Other top finishers for the Panthers were Heath Brooks, Drake Snavely, Tyler Raub, and Levi Mills.

The Mt. Pleasant 7th grade football Maroon team defeated Keokuk 30-0, Brevin Wilson had 2 touchdowns, Jack Johnson and Chase Williamson each had 1.  Cooper Pullis, Jack Schimmelphennig and Avery Scanbridge led the defense.  The Gold team did not play because Keokuk did not have enough players, the MPMS Gold team will play at Van Buren tomorrow.

MP 8th grade A & B football teams increase their records to 6-0.

The 8th grade  A-Team beat Keokuk 84-34 last night in Keokuk.  Creighton Mitchell led the offensive attack with 496 all-purpose yards; including 7 TDs.  Two of those TDs came off of 75 yards and 80 yards kick-off returns.  Brody Bender had 264 yards passing; with 3 TDs.  Rylan Seberg had 2 of those TD catches; and Konnor Peterson had the other TD catch from Bender.  On defense; Rylan Seberg, Keegan Kohorst, and Creighton Mitchell all had 6 tackles.  Zach Venhaus had 5 tackles.

In the B game; MP beat Keokuk 22-0 in a half of play.  Hoang Mai scored on a 25 yard run.   Logan Robertson had a 25 yard TD reception and Clayton Lowery had a 62 yard TD reception both from Jacob Moffett.  Hoang Mai led the tackling with 4 tackles.

MP plays home next Tuesday against Washington.

 

Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team picked up their 1st victory of the season 3-2 over Hannibal LaGrange University in Ruble Arena.

For the MPHS football team this will be Senior Night this Friday when they host Davenport Assumption.  This week the team will be having meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and dessert from Z’s.  The team will gather for a meal after the game, it will be pizza provided by the parents.
