The MPHS freshman football team finished their suspended game from Friday night with a 35-0 romp over the Chargers.  Avonte Henle scored on a 15 yard run, Chase Lamm and Levi Puig caught scoring passes from Zach Beason.  James DeMeyer returned a fumble 15 yards for a score and Puig ran 25 yards for a score.  Defensively Rhett Zeglen , James DeMeyer and Jacob Wallace led the way.

 

7th grade girls traveled to Fairfield on Monday for volleyball.

4th ranked Holy Trinity Catholic won their volleyball invitational they hosted last night by beating 6th ranked New London in the championship match25-21, 25-11.  The Crusaders improve to 15-0 with the win, New London is 13-5 and most of those losses are to HTC.

 

Big day of high school and middle school cross country action in Mt. Pleasant today.  The 2015 Panther Invitational will be hosted by the MPHS cross country teams.  18 area schools will join the Panthers beginning at 4:45 p.m., the course is set up behind the MPHS building.  Ranked teams attending will be the 4th ranked MPHS boys and the 2nd ranked Ft. Madison-Holy Trinity Catholic and 15th ranked Fairfield.  Ranked runners Logan Murray of MPHS  #2 in boys 3A, Garrett Hinson Mediapolis  #26 2A, Gavin Benze Winfield Mt. Union 25th.

The Mt. Pleasant School Board of Directors approved two coaching appointments at last night’s meeting.  Curt Watson was hired as JV girls basketball coach and John Bohle was hired as  9th grade girls basketball coach.

For the MPHS football team this will be Senior Night this Friday when they host Davenport Assumption.  This week the team will be having meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and dessert from Z’s.  The team will gather for a meal after the game, it will be pizza provided by the parents.
