The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade football team won 8-6 against Keokuk last night. Josh Mueller caught a TD pass. Sam Jerrell with the 2 point conversion. Dylon Hagans, Dalton Church and Zaylen Hampton stood out defensively Morgan VanNyhius had an interception. Sam Jerrel had 2 interceptions.
The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade football team rolled over Keokuk 44-6 to improve their record to 2-0. Cooper pullis and Chase Williamson each had 2 touchdowns. Brennen Bender and Jack Johnson each scored 1 TD. Mathew Moothart and Cooper Pullis led the defense with 9 tackles each. Grabbing interceptions were: Jack Johnson, Chase Williamson, Oscar Lopez and Drake Warner.
AREA HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL SCORES: Notre Dame swept Waco, Holy Trinity Catholic won in 3 games over Cardinal of Eldon, New London won in a sweep over West Burlington, Mediapolis defeated Wapello 3 games to 1. Ft. Madison swept Keokuk, WMU in a sweep over L&M, Central Lee beat Danville 3-2, Lone tree in a sweep over Columbus Community.
Cross Country rankings released by the Iowa Association of track and cross country coaches. Mt. Pleasant boys are 6th in Class 3A, the Ft. Madison girls are 9th. Logan Murrary is ranked #1 in Class 3A boys, and Cody Mertens of the Panthers is 24th. Abby Ryon of the MPHS girls team is ranked 29th in Class 3A.
The Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team headed to Grinnell College for a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening. Iowa Wesleyan fell in three straight sets for their second loss of the year. The set scores were 25-18, 25-10, and 25-9.
Cassandra Schwamborn finished the night with eight kills, and Sydney Ellsworth recorded five. Cierra Howard ended the night with a team high 19 digs, Maggie Earney recorded 20 assists in the loss.
Iowa Wesleyan will travel to Jacksonville, Illinois for a conference volleyball quad this Saturday. The Tigers take on MacMurray College at 11 am and Greenville College at 1 pm. IW is now 2-2 overall this season and 1-1 in SLIAC play.
The Iowa Wesleyan Tigers men’s soccer team hosted the Muskies of Lakeland University Tuesday afternoon. This was the first home match of the season for Iowa Wesleyan after playing their first five on the road. Two first half goals proved to be the deciding factor in the match as IW suffered a 2-0 loss to Lakeland to fall to 1-4-1 overall this season.
This week’s high school football game Danville at Winfield Mt. Union has been cancelled due to a shortage of players on the Danville’s team. As of this time, all other Homecoming events at WMU will go on as planned.
