The Mt. Pleasant 7th Grade Girls’ Volleyball team hosted Washington for their season opener on Monday.

A Team won in 2 games:

21-11, 21-17

The MPHS Freshman volleyball teams played at Burlington Monday night.  The “A” team lost to Burlington in 2 sets, 18-25 and 9-25.  The ” B “ team also lost in 2 sets , 11-25 and 3-25.

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has released their player of the week.  Iowa Wesleyan had one player receive recognition for her play during last week’s games. Cierra Howard was named SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after playing three games last week. Howard helped the Tigers to two wins last week, including their first SLIAC win of the season. In a non-conference game against Knox College, Howard recorded 31 digs in a 3-1 win and followed with a 38 dig performance against Fontbonne University. The Tigers defeated the Griffins 3-2 to pick up their first conference win of the year.  On the week, she averaged 6.42 digs per set and currently leads the SLIAC in digs per set this season.

 

There are a number of fall activities to sign up for at the Mt. Pleasant Parkl and Rec Department:

 Panther Basketball Camp 3rd-6th

This camp will focus on the basic fundamentals used in the game of basketball. Campers will learns how to defend opponents and implement the offensive techniques necessary to become a scorer! This camp will be an introduction to the Youth Basketball Program starting in November! Camp will be instructed by the Mount Pleasant High School Head Coach, Paul Rundquist.

Fee: $20 residents and $25 non-residents

 Musical Motion Class Ages 3-5

Music! Music! Music! Sign up your little one for a sing a long and dance with Sarah Zihlman for 5 weeks. Sarah uses an assorment of musical instruments for your littles ones to have fun during class. Hurry in…we only have 10 spots left.

 Panther Cheerleading Camp K-5th

This camp offers the opportunity to develop the basic skills such as jumps, chants, and flexibilty exercises. Participants will practice 3 times before they perform at the Mount Pleasant High School Football game on October 14th against Fairfield. This camp will be instructed by Nikole Keaster, the Mount Pleasant high school head Cheer Coach.

K-1st will receive a pair of pom poms & 2nd-5th will recieve a giant pink hair bow.
