It’s week 7 of the 2016 high school football season and the Mt. Pleasant Panthers have a 3-3 overall record and are 2-2 in the district which puts them in a 4 way tie for 3rd in the standings.  The Panthers are still in the running for a post season playoff spot, but are in a must win situation for their last 3 games.  The toughest of those games is tomorrow night when they travel to 8th ranked Solon to play the Spartans who have a 5-1 overall record and are a perfect 4-0 in the district.  Solon’s only loss was to Iowa City Regina 34-0, a Class 1A team that has won 6 state titles in a row.  They are led by a quarterback Blayze Griffis who completes 64% of his passes, has thrown for 10 touchdowns and has just 3 interceptions.  His favorite receiver is Jacob Coons his tight end that is headed to the University of Iowa to play.  Coons has caught 16 passes, 4 of them touchdowns.  The Spartan defense prides themselves in creating turnovers, they have intercepted their opponents 7 times and grabbed 10 fumbles.  The freshman teams of the two schools will play at 5 p.m. followed at 7:30 by the varsity game.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and beginning at 6:30 with our pregame show.  The JV teams will battle in Mt.
