Mt. Pleasant opened up the Class 4A Regional Tournament trail with a win at home Monday night against conference for Keokuk, M.P. beat the Lady Chiefs for the 4th time this season, last night’s scores were 25-10, 25-17, 25-10. The Panthers now move onto the semifinals against Ft. Madison in the HoundDome Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Bloodhounds drew a 1st round bye. In the other half of the Regional Clear Creek-Amana downed Washington 3-0, that sets up the other semifinal clash Thursday night with Clear Creek-Amana playing at Marion who had a bye last night.
In Class 3A Mediapolis had their hands full on their home court with Mid Prairie, the Golden Hawks took the Bullettes to a full five games before falling by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 15-10. Mediapolis now advances onto the semifinals to play #1 ranked West Liberty on their home court Thursday night at 7 p.m. West Liberty won in 3 games over Solon last night.
Tonight the Class 1A and 2Avolleyball teams play quarterfinal games. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will bring you the Moulton-Udell at Holy Trinity Catholic match at 7 p.m. We will have live reports from New London as the Tigers host Sigourney. Also we will give you score updates on the Waco at Burlington Notre Dame match on the Nikes court.
Cierra Howard of Iowa Wesleyan a JR from San Clemente, CA, has been named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the October 18th-25th. She earned the honor for her play in the two games Iowa Wesleyan competed in during the week. This is Howard’s second player of the week honor she has received this year. She previously earned the honor for the week of September 28th-October 3rd.
During the MacMurray game, Howard finished with 33 digs on the night. She came out and recorded 35 digs in the following game against Principia College. Howard has played in six games this season where she has tallied 30 digs. She is currently leading the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in digs per set.
The latest rankings of high school football teams in Iowa have Winfield Mt. Union ranked 8th in Class “A”, the Wolves are preparing to host North Linn Troy Mills in a playoff game Wednesday night., Algona is the #1 ranked team, BGM is #2 that is the team Danville travels to play in the 1st round of the playoffs tomorrow night. Central Lee is ranked 7th in Class 2A, the Hawks are hosting Mediapolis Wednesday night in the playoffs. Albia is #1 in 2A. West Des Moines Dowling tops Class 4A, Pella is #1 in 3A, Fairfield travels to play the Little Dutch tomorrow night in the playoffs, Davenport Assumption is ranked 9th. Class 1A has Iowa City Regina as #1 and Don Bosco tops the 8 man poll.
