Iowa Wesleyan hosted the Eureka Red Devils and suffered their seventh loss of the season by a 35-0 score.   Iowa Wesleyan had just 125 yards of total offense compared to Eureka’s 392. The Tigers were plagued by turnovers against Eureka.  Four of the Tigers drives ended in turnovers on the day.  Offensively, the Tigers were led in receiving by Tylor Hoyle  of  Mt. Pleasant he had a 66 yard reception.  Alex Payne starting at QB for the injured Caleb Hess completed 6 of his 15 attempts for 109 yards and he also had an interception.  The ground game was led by Larry Jackson  who had nine carries for 44 yards.  Defensively, Iowa Wesleyan was led by Nate Daniels with nine tackles.  Andrew Terrell ended the day with eight tackles.  The Tigers had one forced fumble by Avery Sylvester. Wesleyan’s next game will be Saturday when travel to MacMurray College for a 1:00 pm game.

 

Mt. Pleasant had another solid effort for most of their game at Washington Friday night that they lost 42-24.  For M.P. Joe Hess hit 16 of 35 passes for 276 yards with 1 interception.  Hess tossed  a 99 yard TD pass to Dshundric Foster to add big yards to the passing game.  Foster caught 2 passes for 115 yards to lead the receiving, Pat Canby again led the rushing with 9 carries for 56 yards and 1 touchdown, he also caught a 42 yard scoring pass.  Jack Davis caught an 18 yard TD pass.  The Panthers are now 0-8 for the season and 0-5 in the district, they play at Ft. Madison Friday to wrap up the season, the Bloodhounds lost to Keokuk 42-3 and are 2-6 on the year.  The Mt. Pleasant freshmen won 17-14 over Washington.  The MPHS JV team will host the Demons tonight.

The Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team fell to Westminister College 25-14, 25-12, 25-16.

Principia College defeated the Iowa Wesleyan women’s soccer team 9-0, Principia won over the Wesleyan men’s team 8-0.

 

The New York Mets have taken a 2 games to none lead over the Chicago Cubs after winning 4-1 in New York last night.  The two teams now move to Wrigley Field for 3 games beginning Tuesday.  Kansas City who leads Toronto 2-0 in the ALCS and play game 3 in Canada tonight at 7 p.m.

 

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Regional Volleyball tournaments get started this week.
In class 1A defending state champion Holy Trinity Catholic opens at home against Harmony on 10/20/15, the winner plays Moulton-Udel at Holy Trinity 10/27/15.  New London is in the same regional and opens at home tomorrow night against Maharishi.  The winner plays Sigourney or Tri County at New London on 10/27/15.  Winfield Mt. Union plays host to Burlington Notre Dame tomorrow night, English Valleys is at Waco.  The 2nd round action is at Notre Dame on 10/27/15.
