The Iowa Wesleyan football team was on the road Saturday as they took on Eureka College in a UMAC match up.  The Red Devils handed the Tigers a 29-15 loss. It was the their fourth straight loss in conference play.  Rodolfo Amezcua hauled in a pass for the first score of the game.  The  Tiegers 2nd touchdown came when Raul Alvarez found Jeremy Gomez  on a nine yard completion.  The Tigers were successful on a two point conversion and cut the deficit to 29-15.  Larry Torbert led the Tigers on defense. He recorded six solo tackles and assisted on four others for a total of ten.  Quintin Walters had an interception for the Tigers.  Wesleyan will return to action Saturday, when they host MacMurray College for a 1 pm kickoff. Iowa Wesleyan is now 1-6 overall and 1-5 in UMAC play.


Iowa Hawkeye football team rolled to a 49-35 win at Purdue Saturday.  Hawks win a school record 9th straight road game.  Hawks play Wisconsin next Saturday.

Iowa State football team lost at Texas Saturday night 27-6, the Cyxlones led 6-3 at halftime.

Northern Iowa Played Youngstown State in Ohio and lost 14-10

The Cubs won the opening game of the National League Championship series 8-4 over the Dodgers, they play again tonight.  Cleveland beat Toronto 2-1 in the American League Championship Series to take a two nothing lead in the series, today is travel day for the two teams to move to Toronto.

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s golf team traveled to Sherrard, Illinois to compete in the Viking Fall Shootout that was hosted by Augustana.  Saturday’s tournament wrapped up the fall season for the Tigers.  Iowa Wesleyan finished the day with a team score of 329 to place third out of six teams. The team was led in scoring by Blake Forsythe, who shot an 80 and was the lone Tiger to finish in the top ten.  Kiley Miller shot an 82 and placed in a tie for 12th place.  Mike Neff tied for 17th place after shooting an 83 through 18 holes. Connor McLean ended the day with an 84 and tied for 20th.  Iowa Wesleyan is done competing in the fall season and will return to action this spring.

Principia College handed the Iowa Wesleyan volleyball team a 3 set loss on Saturday morning.  Iowa Wesleyan is now 6-16 overall and 5-9 in SLIAC play. The Tigers will be on the road for their next contest. They will travel to Indianola, Iowa on October 18, to take on Simpson College at 7:30 pm. The two teams will play a JV contest at 5:30 pm prior to the varsity match.

Iowa Wesleyan played Westminster in women’s and men’s soccer Saturday.  The Tiger women lost 10-0 and the Tiger men fell 5-0.
