The Iowa Wesleyan men’s golf team competed in the Simpson College Fall Invitational Wednesday.

Iowa Wesleyan finished the day with a team score of 321 and a sixth place finish overall.  The Tigers top finisher individually was Tanner Travis A SR from Columbus Junction, IA).  Travis ended the day with a score of 78 and tied for 16th place as an individual. Bo Vitale a JR from Mt. Pleasant finished with a score of 79 and tied for 18th place. Vitale’s round was highlighted by two birdies.  Kiley Miller a SO from Mt. Pleasant found himself in a six way tie for 25th place after shooting an 81 through 18 holes of competition. Wartburg College won the team title shooting 299.

The Tigers will return to action on October 4th to compete in the Waldorf Fall Invitational.  The tournament will be held at Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City, Iowa.

 

Iowa Wesleyan hosted Fairhaven Baptist for a non-conference men’s soccer match Wednesday afternoon.  The Tigers were the aggressors taking 26 shots compared to Fairhaven’s 3.

Josue Nicolas scored the lone goal, it came at the 16:50 mark in the opening period.

Josh Bonilla got the shutout for the Tigers and recorded 2 saves in the win.

The Tigers will have a tough conference match this weekend as they host Westminster College at East Lake Park and play the first of the double header matches at 1:00 p.m.  The women’s teams will play at 3:00 pm.

 

Healthy Henry County Communities (HHCC) encourages residents of Henry County to join with thousands of other Iowans in a one-kilometer Healthiest State Walk on Wednesday, October 7th.  There will be a community walk in downtown Mt. Pleasant between 11:30am and 12:30pm.  To participate, register by the steam engine and walk two laps around the park during that time.  Prizes will be awarded.

The Mt. Pleasant 5th and 6th grade football teams will get the chance to play under the lights on Monday October 5th.  Shawn Striegel varsity football coach has announced that after the JV game Monday, the 5th and 6th grade teams will play under the lights on Evans Field.  So come out  and cheer the JV at 5 p.m. and the elementary teams at 7 p.m.  See the future Panther stars in action!!!!

The Mt. Pleasant Community School sports schedule for Thursday:  Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade volleyball hosts Aldo Leopold of Burlington while the 8th grade teams meet at Aldo Leopold.
