Nick Maynard head girl’s basketball coach at Mt. Pleasant High School has resigned.  School district posted that position April 25th in the job openings section of their website.

Mt. Pleasant won the Fairfield boy’s golf invitational shooting a 312 score.  Centerville was 2nd at 327 in the 5 team field.  Jeff Cox of the Panthers was medalist shooting 76, Trace White shot 77, Jake Moffett shot 79 and Riley Kempker added an 80 score.

 

Notre Dame-West Burlington won the Southeast Iowa Super Conference boy’s golf tournament on the Sheaffer Course in Ft. Madison yesterday shooting a 328 score.  Central Lee was 2nd at 331 and WMU was 3rd in the 13 team field with a 345 score.  New London was 6th 362.  Medalist honors went to Kaleb Hagge of Winfield Mt. Union with a 76, runner up was Wayne Briggs of Danville who shot 78.

 

The Mt. Pleasant Panther girls and boys track teams will be hosting the 2017 Southeast Conference Track and Field Championships tonight beginning at 5 pm on the Maple Leaf Track.  The Mt. Pleasant girl’s team according to Quik Stats has the top performance in the conference for four events.  Baily Johnson in the Discus, Abby Ryon in the 3000 meter run, along with the shuttle hurdle relay and distance medley relay.  For the Panther boys, they have to top performances in every event except the Shot Put and Discuss. Get out and cheer on the Panther track teams tonight in the conference meet and then return in a week to cheer them on in the girls and boys state qualifying meet on May 11th.  That day field events begin at 4 pm and running events at 4:30.

 

 

Mt. Pleasant REC Department programs to sign up for:

  1. “Almost Summer” Basketball Camp for Boys entering 3rd-6th grade in 2017-18 school year! Coach Paul Rundquist will focus on providing campers with the knowledge of shooting, dribbling, passing, defensive & offensive techniques and fundamentals in an individual and a team setting. Baskets will be lowered for those campers who are not ready for regulation height baskets!

  1. Sign up today for our Summer Adult Coed Softball League! League will play in June & July at the East Lake Softball Complex on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The cost for each team will be $200 + $5 for any addition non-resident.

Join Haley Booton for four days of fun learning the fundamentals such as the proper grip, swing, stance, and etiquette. Camp size is limited to 10 participants. Please let the Park and Rec know if your camper has their own clubs or not.

Join Aline Thiengmany for four days of fun learning the fundamentals such as the proper grip, swing, stance, and etiquette. Camp size is limited to 10 participants. Please let the Park and Rec know if your camper has their own tennis racket or not.
