Chariton beat the MPHS varsity baseball team 5-3.  The Chargers also won the JV game 5-4.  MPHS hosts Keokuk Tuesday and KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will broadcast the 1st game of the twin bill at 5:30 p.m.

Ben Zihlman a Junior at Mt. Pleasant High School lost both his matches at the State Singles Tennis Tournament in Cedar Rapids Friday.  Lost to #3 seed A.J. Jackson a Senior from Knoxville in the 1st round and lost to Ryan Kucera of Creston-O.M. a senior by 6-4, 6-0.

 

Logan Mulford a Junior at Central College in Pella finished 2nd in the high jump at the NCAA-III Outdoor Championships being held in Waverly, Iowa.  Logan a former Mt. Pleasant Panther cleared  6′ 10 3/4″.  The winner cleared the same height and won on fewer misses.

 

WMU boys’ golf 5th after 1st day of State Golf meet in Marshalltown with a 334, 16 strokes behind leader East Buchanan.  Kaleb Hagge tied for 4th in medal play 74, Logan Capesius of Garrigan Catholic low with 71.  Kolt Rossiter 76, Kash Rossiter 88, Darren Hunter 96, Dalton Spencer 99 and Graham Hagge 104.

L&M softball Tournament cancelled today, Mt. Pleasant was to play there.

Boy’s soccer Substate final matches:  Class 2A-Ft. Madison at Cedar Rapids Xavier.  Class 1A-Albia at Columbus/Winfield Mt. Union.

The Mt. Pleasant High School girls’ golf team is preparing to play in the Class 4A State Meet next Tuesday and Wednesday in Ames.  KILJ will be doing a meet the players program with the players and coaches that will air at 9 a.m. this  morning on KILJ-FM 105.5 and on kilj.com streaming as well as the program being available in the sports archives section of the website.  The program is being sponsored by Southeast Iowa Renal Dialysis.
