The MPHS boy’s golf team opens up State Tournament play at the Class 3A championships being hosted by the Spring Valley Golf Course at Livermore, Iowa, it’s the Panthers 1st state meet appearance since 2005.  The six Panther golfers competing are:  Jeff Cox, Trevor Mabeus and Riley Kempker all seniors along with sophomores Trace White and Bailey Shelledy and freshman Jake Moffett.

The WMU boy’s golf team is competing in the Class 1A tournament being played at the American legion Course in Marshalltown.  The Wolves team is made up of all under-classmen.  Kaleb Hagge and Kash Rossiter are juniors, Graham Hagge and Jarod Kadel sophomores and freshmen Noah Freeman and Nolan Ross.  Today’s action at both locations begins at 10:30 am and tomorrow’s final round will begin at 8 am.


The MPHS baseball team fell to North Scott in non-conference baseball play by a score of 3-1, Jordon Magnani suffered the loss on the mound, Cooper Huckabone was 2-2 at the plate.  Panthers take their 0-4 record on the road tonight to play at Chariton and then are off till Tuesday May 30th when they open conference action against Keokuk.


The Mt. Pleasant High School softball team is ranked 10th this week in the Class 4A Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union poll.  They are joined by Keokuk in 7th place, Burlington is ranked 3rd and Oskaloosa is #1.  Pleasant Valley is #1 in the 5A class.  Davenport Assumption is #1 in 3A, CMB tops class 2A with Highland in 12th and Wapello #15.  Class 1A is led by Kee High of Lansing


Mt. Pleasant High School opened up the girls’ soccer 2A Regional tournament action with a big win at home against Washington by a 10-0 score.  Catherin Prough had 4 1st half goals, Mary West 3 goals.  Mellanie Vargas and Sydney Doak had assists.  Ayden Ross recorded two saves in goal.  The Panthers now advance to the next round to play #1 ranked Pella at Pella on Tuesday May 30th.


MPHS boy’s soccer team has moved into the Sub-state final at #4 Cedar Rapids Xavier tomorrow, the winner goes onto state.

Columbus Community /Winfield Mt. Union will play #4 Solon tomorrow in the Sub-state championship match.

6th ranked Danville-New London is one win away from the state soccer tournament, the Bears play against #2 ranked Davenport Assumption in Davenport tomorrow.
