#4 ranked Davenport Assumption handed the MPHS baseball team a twin bill loss last night on the Maple Leaf diamond 10-0 and 11-1. Panthers were no hit in the 1st game, Cale Christner took the loss on the mound, Knights won 11-1 in the 2nd game, it was a 3-1 game until Assumption struck for 8 runs in the top of the 6th. Levi Parkevich, Dalton Shull and Jordon Magnani shared the Panther pitching chores. Pat Canby had a double, Cooper Huckabone had the RBI, Zach Ebling, Caleb Potts and Cale Christner had hits. Panthers next action will be at North Scott tomorrow for JV and varsity games.

MPHS softball team has a JV-varsity double header at home tonight with Central Lee, JV game at 5:30 and varsity will follow.
Substate boys’ soccer tonight-Class 2A at Ft. Madison has the 14th ranked Bloodhounds hosting Fairfield, 1A semi-finals at Columbus Junction will have #6 Danville-New London playing Albia at 5 p.m. followed by #4 Columbus/Winfield Mt. Union vs Holy Trinity Catholic.
Mt. Pleasant had some middle school boys compete in the state pentathlon. Konnor Peterson was 3rd overall with 2286 points, Hoang Mai finished 5th with 2094and Khang Truong was 11th with 1642. Peterson set a new school record in the 100 meter hurdles 14.07.
Mt Pleasant Girls Basketball team is holding a Jr Panther Camp for all girls entering grades 4-8 June 20th-June 21st. For more information or to register, visit the Mt. Pleasant school website or contact coach Maynard.
The Henry County Football camp is going to be held June 1st thru 3rd at the Maple Leaf Athletic Complex, it is open to students who will be entering grades 4 thru 6 in the fall of 2016. With paid admission all campers will receive a camp T-Shirt,
Instruction and feedback.
This three day non-padded camp will focus on the technique that improves skill and
introduces young athletes to concepts of the sport.
Along with flexibility and speed training, all positions will be covered in the three day
camp, including special teams.
The Mt. Pleasant High School and Iowa Wesleyan University football staffs will be conducting the camp with the help from past and present high school and college players. Cost is $35, registration forms are available at elementary schools and you can contact Shawn Striegel head coach at MPHS or Mike Richtman head coach of the IWU Tigers.
The WACO CSD Foundation will host a Golf Outing on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Golf and Country Club in Washington, Iowa. The outing is a 4 person, best ball, shotgun start tournament. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. and the golf begins at 3:00 p.m.
Funds raised will benefit WACO athletes and community with the construction of a weight room and fitness center.
Flag sponsors are appreciated on a first come, first serve basis. Team fees are $250.00 includes green fees, 2 carts and meal. $65/person to be assigned to a team. Registration form and additional information available at www.wacocsd.org
The Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Athletic Club Annual Golf outing will be held Friday June 10th at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A shotgun start begins at 10 a.m. The post outing reception begins at 4 p.m. The cost is $100 per player, $400 per team and there is a 36 team limit. Golfers get 18 holes of golf with cart, box lunch, beverage tickets along with the post outing reception and raffle drawings. There will also be a number of contests during the tournament.
