The Mt. Pleasant High School girls’ golf team won the Region 4 Final at Grinnell’s Oakland Acres Golf Course and advance onto the state competition in Ames. Scores were: Mount Pleasant – State Qualifer 345 Washington – State Qualifier 356……. Cedar Rapids Xavier 378…… North Scott 394…. Grinnell 404….. Marion 420….. Maquoketa 439… Clear Creek-Amana 441…. Central DeWitt 458….. Lisbon – Mt. Vernon 461….. Oskaloosa 468 and Keokuk 535.

New London is returning to the Class 1A girls’ golf championships. The Tigers Monday won the Regional at Knoll Ridge golf Course in North English by a whopping 65 strokes shooting a 326 to Iowa Valley’s 391 which also qualified them for state. New London’s Casey Noble was medalist shooting 77, Emma Pry shot 80 and Paetyn Prottsman 81, they will all play in medalist competition Tuesday and Wednesday in the State Meet at Jester Park Course in Granger.
Kortney Orr of Columbus community shot an 88 yesterday in the Class 2A regional golf tournament at Oskaloosa to advance to the state meet next week in medalist play, Pleasantville and Ogden advance as team qualifiers.
Monday 8 middle school girls traveled to Central College In Pella to the Iowa Association of Coaches Pentathlon Track and Field Meet. Of the 67 girls entered from across the state, Mt. Pleasant was recognized with two girls finishing in the top 10. Serenity Keomanivong was awarded a 3rd place medal and Maggy Christoforo was recognized finishing in 9th place. The team was then called forward to receive the second place overall plaque. All girls compete in 5 events during the day; the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 400 m run. In the final total of the girls points Mt. Pleasant made Mt. Pleasant proud. Coaches attending the meet with the girls were Dave Hutchcroft and Daryl Shy.

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers open the 2016 high school baseball season at home tonight against Davenport Assumption 1st pitch will be at 5 pm.
The MPHS boys’ soccer team had their season come to an end last night in the opening round of the soccer substate tournament. The Panthers fell to Keokuk 3-2. Keokuk will now advance to play AT Cedar Rapids Xavier Wednesday. Fairfield who beat Washington 8-0 will play at Ft. Madison Wednesday. .
Mt Pleasant Girls Basketball team is holding a Jr Panther Camp for all girls entering grades 4-8 June 20th-June 21st. For more information or to register, visit the Mt. Pleasant school website or contact coach Maynard.
The Henry County Football camp is going to be held June 1st thru 3rd at the Maple Leaf Athletic Complex, it is open to students who will be entering grades 4 thru 6 in the fall of 2016. With paid admission all campers will receive a camp T-Shirt,
Instruction and feedback.
This three day non-padded camp will focus on the technique that improves skill and
introduces young athletes to concepts of the sport.
Along with flexibility and speed training, all positions will be covered in the three day
camp, including special teams.
The Mt. Pleasant High School and Iowa Wesleyan University football staffs will be conducting the camp with the help from past and present high school and college players. Cost is $35, registration forms are available at elementary schools and you can contact Shawn Striegel head coach at MPHS or Mike Richtman head coach of the IWU Tigers.
The WACO CSD Foundation will host a Golf Outing on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Golf and Country Club in Washington, Iowa. The outing is a 4 person, best ball, shotgun start tournament. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. and the golf begins at 3:00 p.m.
Funds raised will benefit WACO athletes and community with the construction of a weight room and fitness center.
Flag sponsors are appreciated on a first come, first serve basis. Team fees are $250.00 includes green fees, 2 carts and meal. $65/person to be assigned to a team. Registration form and additional information available at www.wacocsd.org
The Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Athletic Club Annual Golf outing will be held Friday June 10th at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A shotgun start begins at 10 a.m. The post outing reception begins at 4 p.m. The cost is $100 per player, $400 per team and there is a 36 team limit. Golfers get 18 holes of golf with cart, box lunch, beverage tickets along with the post outing reception and raffle drawings. There will also be a number of contests during the tournament.
