Day one of the State Track meet saw the Mt. Pleasant girls score 6 points and hold down 13th place in the team standings.  Davenport Assumption  is in 1st place with 38.  Mary Wester led the way with a 4th place finish in the discus throwing 128′ 2″.  The 4×800 relay ran 9:51.45 to place 8th with Ellie Conrad, Taylor Murray, Laura Hult and Natalie Ita.  Mt. Pleasant had the 3rd fastest time in the shuttle hurdle relay running 1:05.45, Sidney Taylor, Allison Buckert, Hannah Becker and Kelsi Phipps the runners. 

The MPHS boys are 8th with 6 points and Gilbert leads the 3A class with 25 points.  Ben Canby got the Panther points with a 3rd place finish in the discuss with a throw of 162′ 4″.  Cole Phillips had the 3rd fastest qualifying times in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, he will run both races Saturday.  The shuttle hurdle relay team had the fast time of the prelims going 58.13, Spencer White, Jake Lowe, Brock Wilson and Cole Phillips the runners.

Friday will be a busy day for M.P.  Mary Wester throws the shot put, on the boy’s side Ben Canby and Jackson Kelly will be throwing.  Cole Phillips and Spencer White  run the 110 meter high hurdles, Kelsi Phipps and Hanna Becker then run the 100 meter hurdles.  The Panther girls 4×200 relay with Brianna Shelman, Mikayla Lance, Katie Ensminger and Danielle Coffin.  Spencer White and Jake Lowe will run the 400 meter hurdles.  Kelsi Phipps and Hannah Becker will run that event also.  M.P girls run the 4×100 relay with Katie Ensminger, Hanna Becker, Kelsi Phipps and Danielle Coffin.  The Panther boys 4×100 with Brady Sartorius, Spencer White, Tony Cristoforo and Pat Canby will then get their turn.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will have reports each hour beginning at 9:30 a.m.  You can also get results on twitter from  kiljradio

 

Class 1A place winners and qualifiers for finals.  Quincy Porter of New London made the 100 meter dash finals with a prelim time of 11.20 6th fastest.  Kathryn Luers of Danville made the 100 meter finals running 12.72 in prelims to be 5th fastest and she was 5th fastest in the 200 meter dash running 26.33 to make the finals.Bryce Achen of Waco made the 200 finals wi9th a 5th fastest 22.69 in the prelims.

 

Class 1A Friday events for KILJ area athletes.  Karlie Wade WMU will run the 100 meter and 400 hurdles.  New Londons Carson McSorely will run the 400 hurdles also.  Jesse Fuller Van Buren 110 high hurdles, Garrett Saunders Van Buren 400 meter lows.  Winfield Mt. Union 4×200 relay with Kyler Smith, Levi Giese, Garret Baker and Keaton Pallister.  The Waco girls 4×200 of Trilby Frier, Halle Kissell, Jennie Green and Angelique Frier.  Danville 4×200 has Grace Grothe, Mackenzie Speer, Alexis Bauer and Emma Jarrett.  Waco’s Trilby Frier, Jalyssa Jepson, Jennie Green and Angelique Frier make up the 4×100.  Van Buren boys will also run a 4×200 prelim.  Mitchell Martin defending state champ in the high jump will try to defend that title today. Riley Grogan of New London will throw the discus.  Alexis Hite of Danville will high jump.
