We been talking a lot about Mt. Pleasant High School state track athletes. We also need to talk about the MPHS boys’ golf team going to state, they qualified for the big show Thursday by finishing 2nd in the sub-state at Oskaloosa. Williamsburg won the event with a 314, M.P. shot 323, Centerville had a 329, Mt. Vernon 337 and Pella shot 343. Jeff Cox and Trevor Mabeus shot 79’s for the Panthers, Bailey Shelladay had an 82 and Riley Kempker shot 83. It’s off to state for the MP boys’ golf team May 26th and 27th at the Spring Valley Course in Livermore.
Gonna be a wet and wild day the the State Track meet in Des Moines today. Rain showers, brisk easterly winds and cool temps will greet the athletes and fans . Action begins at 9 am with 1A and 4A teams. Area 1A competitors today for 1A will be: Beau Beckler of Waco in 110 highs, Waco’s 4×200 relays for boys, Danville 4×200 relay for girls, Carson McSorely of New London in 400 hurdles, Distance medley relay for New London boys, Danville and Waco girls 4×100 relay, Waco and WMU boys 4×100 relay, New London girls’ 4×400 relay. WMU boys and New London girls will have entries in the high jump today.
This afternoon the M.P. Panthers will have the following events competing at state track: Girls distance medley relay,Allison Buckert 100 meter hurdles, Jake Lowe and Cole Burns in 110 highs, Jake Lowe 400 hurdles, Maggie Cristiforo 400 hurdles, Boys distance medley relay, 4×100 relay and 4×400 relay. Grace Bittle and Lexi Magnani in shot put and Allison Buckert in girls long jump and Keegan Rich in boys long jump.
