The MPHS boy’s golf team finished 3rd in the Washington Demon quadrangular golf tournament Saturday shooting a 344 score. The Demons won on teir home course with a 315 total. M.P. scores: Jeff Cox 82, Trevor Mabeus 83, Jordon Phomsouvandara 86, William Kinney 93, Beau Parkevich 98 and Sam Van DeBerg 100 Medalist honors went to Chase Finke of Columbus Community and Ian Kelly of Marion who had identical 74 scores
The Mike Henderson Jr High State Track Meet was held this past Saturday, May 9th, in Waukee, IA. Several Mt. Pleasant Middle School Athletes placed in the top 10 of events.
Maggie Cristoforo: 2nd in 200m dash & 2nd in 400m dash
Abby Ryon: 5th in 1500m run & 7th in 800m open
Serenity Keomonivong: 3rd in 100m hurdles & 8th in 200m hurdles
Maddie Williamson: 7th in 200m hurdles
The Panther girls were competing against other 3A & 4A class runners from throughout the state of Iowa.
The Mt. Pleasant Middle School Girls’ track teams competed at the Keokuk May 4, 2015. Team scores were not kept. First Place Finishes: Abby Smith- 800 m Run , Maddie Williamson 100 m hurdles, 200 m hurdles, Shaleen Thiengmany- high jump, Sadie Carrasco- discus.
The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade boys track team won their division of the Fairfield Relays with 167 points, Washington was 2nd in the 6 team field with 114 points. Jaden Davis won the discus at 92’, Creighton Mitchell won the long jump going 17’ 2” and the 100 meter dash in 11.78. The shuttle hurdle relay team was 1st with Wong Mai, Logan Bass, Jaden Davis and Connor Peterson. Ryan Seeberg won the 400 meter dash 59.96, Hoang Mai won the 200 meter dash in 26.94, Brody Bender finished 1st in the 800 meter run 2:26.9, the sprint medley relay of Creighton Mitchell, Logan Bass, Zach Venghaus and Ryan Seberg won the sprint medley relay in 1:48.9 which set a new school record that was 25 years old.

MPHS girls and boys varsity track teams hosting the state qualifying meet at Maple Leaf Track at 4 p.m. teams competing are Davenport Assumption, Clear Creek Amana, Fairfield, Ft. Madison, Keokuk, Washington, Solon and Mt. Pleasant. MPHS girls soccer hosts Washington, MPHS girls tennis at Davis County. FRIDAY: Washington and Williamsburg play the MPHS girls golf team at MPGCC, MPHS boys soccer at Pella. SATURDAY: MPHS girls soccer at a tournament at West Liberty. MPHS girls tennis play in the regional tournament at Fairfield Maharishi.
On Saturday, June 13, the 2nd Alumni Football Game between Mt. Pleasant and Washington High School Alumni will be held on Evans Field at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex to benefit University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
The event is organized by Alumni Football USA, and will consist of a full contact football game, as well as various fundraising activities. The majority of event fundraising
comes from the presale of tickets, which will be available May 9, 2015 at Browns Shoe Fit,
HyVee Food Store, Anywhere Apparel, and Press Box Grill and Bar, Z’s Quick Break and Pep Stop all located in Mt.Pleasant. For more information about the Alumni Football Game, please contact Nick Capaldo at (319)7951437.
Mt. Pleasant Panther 2015 boy’s Summer Basketball Camp registration is open for elementary thru high school boys. The 1st 1 week camp will be held June 22nd thru June 25th and week 2 will be July 13th thru 16th. Elementary camp is for 3rd thru 5th graders. Middle School camp for 6th thru 8th and High School camp is for 9th thru 12th graders. Camps will be conducted by Coach Paul Rundquist, and his staff. The Iowa Wesleyan College Tiger Club will host a golf tournament on June 12, 2015 at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. The tournament will be organized by the athletic department, and the event will benefit Tiger student-athletes. Registration for the event is now available at http://www.iwctigers.com/f/golfouting.php and can be completed online or by mailing in the registration form. There is limit of thirty-six teams for the tournament. Contests will be held at several different holes throughout the course and will include hole in one, longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. A cocktail reception will take place after the completion of play, and raffle drawings will be held at that time. Iowa Wesleyan would like to thank the sponsors for helping make this event possible. Matt Lafrenz , a Country Financial agent, and Two Rivers Bank and Trust will be recognized as the title sponsor for the event. Country Financial is also the sponsor for the hole in one contest.
On Sunday May 3rd the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club will host the Darrel Brown Memorial 3 man best shot tournament for members and non-members. Tee off is at 10 a.m. the cost is $60 per team. Sunday May 17th is the women’s opening day best shot tournament with a 10 a.m. tee off. Memorial Day Monday May 25th there is a men’s 3 man best shot tournament for members and non-members at 8 a.m. for $60 per team. A 4 couple alternating best shot tournament will be held at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $80 per team for members and non-members.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the teams that will be competing in the state qualifying meet at Mt. Pleasant on May 14th………Clear Creek Amana, Davenport Assumption, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Solon, and Washington.
