Mt Pleasant boys track competed in the Falcon Relays yesterday at West Burlington High School. Panthers took home the Class A team title with 198 points, 92 points ahead of 2nd place Washington, and swept the field events. In the shot put Henry Lutovsky finished 1st with a throw of 48’, Cooper Pullis was 2nd at 45’8”, and Riley McQuiggen was 3rd and threw 45’3”. In the discus Zach Beason was 1st with a throw of 138’11”, and Cooper Pullis was at 134’. In the long jump Rylan Seberg was 1st with a jump of 20’7.5” and in the high jump Sam Beatty was 1st at 6’2”. In the 100 meter dash Khang Truong was 3rd at 11.55. In the 400 meter dash Rylan Seberg was 1st at 52.87. In the 800 meter run Brody Bender was 1st at 2:07.86 and broke the meet record in the process. In the 1,600 meter run Cody Mertens was 3rd at 5:00.62. In the 110 meter hurdles Chase Lamm finished 1st at 15.58 and Konner Peterson was 3rd at 16.60. In the 400 meter hurdles Dalton Church was 2nd at 1:07.58.

In the 4×100 relay Mt Pleasant finished 2nd at 45:37 with the team of Khang Truong, Chase Lamm, Kyle Samples, and Rylan Seberg. In the 4×200 relay Mt Pleasant finished 2nd at 1:41.05 with the team of Jack Johnson, Hoang Mai, Chase Williamson, and Dalton Church. In the 4×400 relay Mt Pleasant was 1st at 3:40.58 with the team of Sam Beatty, Avante Henley, Konner Peterson, and Jacob Stukerjurgen. In the 4×800 relay Mt Pleasant was 1st at 9:44 with the team of Dylon Hagans, Drake Snavely, Luke Ryon, and Nick McCormick. In the sprint medley Mt Pleasant was 3rd at 1:43.25. In the distance medley relay Panthers were 1st at 3:54.71 with the team of Kyle Samples, Avante Henley, Mason Mills, and Jacob Stukerjurgen. In the shuttle hurdle relay Mt Pleasant was 1st at 1:04.03 with the team of Zach Beason, Tate Shull, Konner Peterson, and Chase Lamm.

 

 

University of Northern Iowa wrestler Drew Foster, a former Mediapolis Bulldog, won the NCAA National Championship over the weekend in the 184 pound weight class. He defeated Max Dean from Cornell in the finals 6-4. Foster is the first UNI wrestler to win a national title since 2000. He finishes the season with a 28-5 record and helped lead the Panthers to tie for 13th place, the best finish for UNI since 2003.

 

Iowa Wesleyan baseball is on the road down to St Louis today for a non-conference game with Washington University. Tigers are 3-11-1 overall on the season and coming off a split series at Principia College over the weekend. The Bears are off to a hot start to the season at 12-3-1. Game time is 3pm this afternoon.

-Thursday: Varsity girls tennis playing at Notre Dame 4:30pm

Varsity boys tennis hosting Davis County 4:30pm

Girls and Boys track will be hosting a varsity invitational out at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex starting at 4:30pm

-Saturday: Varsity boys soccer playing in an invitational at Fort Madison starting at 9am

 

On April 20th there is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament taking place at Mt Pleasant Middle School. There are several age groups for male and female teams to compete in. College Basketball:

-Iowa State women’s basketball was on the wrong side of a Cinderella story. Last night the #3 seeded Cyclones lost to #11 seed Missouri State 69-60. Bears advance on to the Sweet 16 to play #2 seed Stanford and Iowa State ends their season 26-9.

-Iowa women’s basketball is still in the dance. Making it to the Sweet 16 the #2 seed Hawkeyes will play #3 NC State on March 30th at 10:30am in Greensboro North Carolina.
