The Danville Bears finished 4th at the 2015 IHSAA boys basketball Class 1A championships. Earlham defeated Danville 63-52 in the consolation game Friday morning. Bears end the year with a 26-2 record with both losses happening at the state tournament. Connor Hoelzen was named to the All Tournament Team.
In the 1A championship game Gladbrook-Reinbeck defeated Maple Valley-Anthon-Otto 64-52. The 2A Championship was won by Treynor over Iowa City Regina 51-46.
Tonight in the 3A Championship defending champion Dubuque Wahlert plays LeMars. The 4A Championship has North Scott playing conference foe Pleasant Valley.
The Iowa State Cyclones came from behind once again to beat Oklahoma 67-65 in the semi finals of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. Cyclones play Kansas in the Championship game tonight, Kansas beat Baylor 62-52 in the other semi final. KILJ-AM 1130 will carry the championship game live beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the pregame.
At the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago, quarterfinal action saw Wisconsin beat Michigan 71-60, Purdue beat Penn State 64-59, Maryland downed Indiana 75-69 and Michigan State beat Ohio State 79-73. This afternoon Wisconsin plays Purdue and Michigan State battles Maryland. Finals are Sunday afternoon.

The 2015 registration for the Mt. Pleasant Girls Softball ages pre-K-12th grade will be held March 14th at Van Allen Elementary from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration forms are also available at www.mpsoftball.com.
Come support the WACO Backpack Program and Student Council at the annual “Hoops to Help” Alumni Basketball Games this Saturday, March 14! The women’s 6-on-6 game begins at 5:00, and the men’s game follows. Halftime entertainment is Aerial Energy and the High School Dance Off Competition. Following the men’s game, we will be recognizing Coach Bob Hilmer for his years of service here at WACO(from 2001- 2015). Please share and help us celebrate.
WACO Alumni we NEED YOU…The 3rd annual WACO vs. WMU alumni game is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 31st at 8p.m. This 2015 game will be held at the Winfield complex during Crooked Creek Days. Interested WACO Alumni should sign-up at www.alumnifootballusa.com. A minimum of 25 alumni athletes from each school are necessary for the game to be officially scheduled. Less than 25 signed up athletes will cause the game to be be cancelled. Alumni Football USA and WACO Alumni athletes have raised more than $5,000 to benefit WACO Athletics . Warriors, lets keep the tradition alive and have some fun playing football. Please help us spread the word.
