The Mt. Pleasant Panther girl’s track team ran indoors yesterday at Iowa State University. The best finishes for the Panthers were: Taylor Murray finishing 7th in the 1500 meter run in a time of 5:13.69 and Abby Ryon who finished 13th in the 3000 meter run in 11:12.48.
Today the MPHS boy’s track team will run at Iowa State on the 300 yard 8 lane indoor track.
Iowa Wesleyan tangled with Missouri Baptist as they continued their spring break trip with games in Florida. Tigers lost both games by scores of 15-0, the Tigers had 4 hits and 4 errors and 13-1 in a game where they had 3 hits and committed 7 errors. Tigers are now 0-4 on the season.
The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team was looking to bounce back from two losses in the opening games of their spring break trip. The Tigers faced the College of Saint Scholastica, who entered the day 3-0. IW dropped both games, falling 5-0 and 13-2 to the Saints.
The Tigers are now 5-5 on the season. They will have an off day Tuesday and will return to action on Wednesday, March 14th against Utica College. First pitch of the double header is set for 8 am.
The Iowa Women’s basketball team was selected to play in the Kansas City Regional of NCAA basketball tournament. The 24-7 Hawks will fly west to play this Saturday in the 1st round in Los Angeles against 18-12 Creighton, game time should be around 5 pm. A Hawk win would move them to the 2nd round Monday against UCLA or American University.
Drake qualified for the NCAA women’s tournament by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs go to College Station, Texas to play the host school Texas A&M on Friday night, if they win they would play Sunday against the winner of the DePaul vs Oklahoma game.
