The Danville Bears boy’s basketball teams dream of a state championship was ended by the Maple Valley Rams in a heartbreaking 59-57 loss. Danville came from 11 points down in the 3rd quarter to hold a 2 point lead with 16 seconds left in the game and had the ball. An in bounds pass was intercepted by the Rams and taken for a layup and then Danville committed an offensive foul on their next possession to give the ball back to Maple Valley with 6 seconds left. The ball was played into Shawn Finnigan who drove the distance of the court and hit a buzzer beating layup to give his team the win. Danville was led in scoring by Connor Helzen with 18 points, Hunter Peebler added 14 and Kolton Jackson 12. The Bears play in the consolation game Friday morning at 10 a.m. against Earlham who lost in the other semi final game 60-45 to Gladbrook Reinbeck. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the consolation game live at 10 a.m.
Four dancers from MPHS will perform Friday three times on the All State Cheer Squad they are: Sidney Taylor, Jessie Sirivath, Claire Pickford and Allison Buckert.
The Iowa Wesleyan softball team Won 2 games yesterday. The wins even their record for spring break @ 4-4. The Tigers outscored their opponents in a 3 game winning streak 27-10.

The 2015 registration for the Mt. Pleasant Girls Softball ages pre-K-12th grade will be held March 14th at Van Allen Elementary from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration forms are also available at www.mpsoftball.com.
Come support the WACO Backpack Program and Student Council at the annual “Hoops to Help” Alumni Basketball Games this Saturday, March 14! The women’s 6-on-6 game begins at 5:00, and the men’s game follows. Halftime entertainment is Aerial Energy and the High School Dance Off Competition. Following the men’s game, we will be recognizing Coach Bob Hilmer for his years of service here at WACO(from 2001- 2015). Please share and help us celebrate.
WACO Alumni we NEED YOU…The 3rd annual WACO vs. WMU alumni game is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 31st at 8p.m. This 2015 game will be held at the Winfield complex during Crooked Creek Days. Interested WACO Alumni should sign-up at www.alumnifootballusa.com. A minimum of 25 alumni athletes from each school are necessary for the game to be officially scheduled. Less than 25 signed up athletes will cause the game to be be cancelled. Alumni Football USA and WACO Alumni athletes have raised more than $5,000 to benefit WACO Athletics .
