In his first State Trap Shooting Competition, WACO 7th grade student, Chase Newman, Wayland, placed first in the state in the Intermediate Entry Level category with a score of 95 broken clay targets out of 100 shooting attempts. Chase shot 45 clays in the first round and finished with a straight run of 50 on day two!

This past year members of WACO School district organized the WACO Shooting Sports Club, which was soon filled with interested 7th through 12th graders.

Due to the fact that the team is not funded by any school monies, club members, along with their families and coaches have worked hard to raise money and support for their new sport. Besides funds, several local businesses have donated team shirts, caps, and other equipment. Donations are always appreciated as team members provide their own ammunition, guns, and transportation to each event.
