Ottumwa handed the Mt. Pleasant Panther baseball team a 7-5 defeat last night on Maple Leaf Field.

Losing pitcher was Dalton Shull, Zach Ebling led the hitting with a 2 for 4 night hitting a triple.  The JV team won over Ottumwa.

OTHER AREA BASEBALL SCORES:  Burlington split with Pleasant Valley winning 6-1 and losing 9-2. West Burlington 16 Mediapolis 1, Highland 15 Danville 4, New London 4 Wapello 3, L&M 12 WMU 3. Central Lee 15 IMS 5, Fairfield swept Ft. Madison 11-9 and 8-0.  Keokuk split with Washington, Chiefs won 8-7 and Demons won 13-4.

AREA BASEBALL GAMES TONIGHT:  Cardinal at Danville, Central Lee at Highland, Centerville at Fairfield, Durant at Keokuk, West Burlington at Lone tree, Ft. Madison at Muscatine, Pekin at Notre Dame, New London at Van Buren, L&M at Wapello.

 

AREA SOFTBALL SCORES:  Wapello 3 New London 2 (8 innings), Highland 5 Danville 4, IMS 6 Central Lee 5, Mediapolis 11 West Burlington-Notre Dame 0, L&M 11 WMU 4.  Fairfield and Ft. Madison split a conference double header, Fairfield won 7-2 and Ft. Madison won 9-8.  Keokuk swept Washington 6-2 and 9-5.

Former Ames High School and North Carolina standout basketball player Harrison Barnes has been selected to play for the US National team.  Barnes just recently finished up an NBA season where his team the Golden State Warriors finished runner up to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the District and Substate field for the Mt. Pleasant Panther baseball team.  Mt. Pleasant is in District 10 with Fairfield, Ft. Madison and Keokuk.  District 9 will have Clear Creek Amana, Solon, Washington and Mt. Vernon. The winners coming out of the District competition will meet in the Substate with the winner advancing onto the State Tournament.
