Mt. Pleasant and Burlington split a softball double header at Maple Leaf field last night. M.P. won 8-7 and Burlington won 11-6. A highlight of the twinbill was Bailey Johnson of Mt. Pleasant hit 3 homeruns on the night giving here 10 for the season which ties the school record set in 1982 by Jody Wettach.
The IGHSAU has released their latest rankings of girls’ softball teams. Mt. Pleasant moved up two spots in the Class 4A poll to #9. Fairfield is ranked 8th and Keokuk is 7th, In Class 1A New London is ranked 6th dropping from 5th last week. L&M remains ranked 14th in the 2A poll.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the District and Substate field for the Mt. Pleasant Panther baseball team. Mt. Pleasant is in District 10 with Fairfield, Ft. Madison and Keokuk. District 9 will have Clear Creek Amana, Solon, Washington and Mt. Vernon. The winners coming out of the District competition will meet in the Substate with the winner advancing onto the State Tournament.
The MPHS baseball team played in a tournament in Waterloo Friday. They played Corydon Wayne in the 1st game, Panthers won 4-2. Panthers lost to Davenport North in the 2nd game 5-2.
The MPHS JV softball team hosts a tournament today at East Lake Park Diamonds. The Southeast Conference schools and Ottumwa will make up the Field.
