Mt. Pleasant swept Ft. Madison in Southeast Conference softball last night.  In game 1 that had an hour long rain delay going into the bottom of the 2nd inning turned out to be an 11-2 Panther win and it was de jau voo all over again in the 2nd game that M.P. won by an 11-2 score.  In the opener Bailey Johnson pitched the win and helped he own cause with a triple.  Sarah Moffett hit a 2 run homer.  Allison Buckert had a hit and scored twice, Jackie Fraise had 2 hits, Kaley White had 2 hits and scored once.

In game two, Cali Liechty pitched the win with 11 strike outs.  Bailey Johnson homered and had 4 RBI’s, Allison Buckert went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s.

M.P. is now 16-6 overall and 8-3 in the conference, they have today off and will host New London Wednesday, Thursday finish the suspended game from earlier in the season with Keokuk at 6 p.m. and tangle with Burlington on Friday and host a tournament on Saturday.

SOFTBALL TONIGHT:  Wapello at West Burlington-Notre Dame, Central Lee at Pekin, Danville at New London, Ft. Madison at Davenport North, Keokuk at Davis county, L&M at Highland, Van Buren at Moulton Udell and WMU at Waco.

 

Mt. Pleasant swept Ft. Madison in baseball at Maple Leaf Field, winning game one 5-3, coming from behind to win after a one hour rain delay.  Levi Parkevich was the winning pitcher striking out 6 Bloodhounds.  Leading the Panther hitting were:  Keegan Rich, Zach Ebling, Cooper Huckabone and Cale Christner.  Game two M.P. won 16-4.  Colby Potts was the winning pitcher.  Cale Christner was 2-4 at the plate with 2 RBI’s, Pat Canby was 3 for 4 and had 3 RBI’s.

Tonight Albia comes to town to play the Panthers in JV-varsity action.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the varsity game live at 7:30 p.m.  Albia played Highland last night and won 6-5.  Fairfield swept Washington 15-3 and 3-0 in conference play.  Davenport Central swept Burlington 8-5 and 8-6.  Keokuk won over Notre Dame 11-5.
